Olive Oil

How olive oil is made

Producing olive oil is a fairly long and difficult process but if you follow these steps you should end up with good quality oil.

First, between September and December, the olives are harvested by hand or with sticks and rakes. Then they are collected on nets beneath the trees. After that, leaves and small stones are removed and the olives are run through a washer to remove any impurities before crushing. Then, within 24-36 hours of picking, the olives are crushed by granite millstones. The olive paste obtained is layered on mats which are put under pressure from a screw or hydraulic press. The liquid produced is collected and put through a centrifugal separator to separate the water and impurities from the oil. Finally, after centrifugation, the oil is obtained.

Superior olive oil is amber in colour and opaque. The less acidic the oil, the better the quality.

Reflection 3

Sometimes I have to use the present passive in process essays, so I have to use is or are + past participle.
For example:
Butter is made from milk.
Oranges are imported into the UAE.
The most important note is how to use irregular verbs in the correct way.
The rest of a process essay is similar to a procedure essay like linking words which are First, Second, Then, After that, Finally and the introduction, the main and the conclusion.

Process: orange juice

Orange juice is the most popular drink around the world. It is healthy, sweet and fresh. Here is how the juice is produced. First, the oranges are unloaded from the lorries. Then, they are graded, washed and sized. After that the juice is extracted and sent to the evaporation machine. Next, the juice is evaporated and concentrated. After that the juice is stored in a big refrigerator. Next, the juice is canned using the canning machine. After that the cans are shipped and sent to the importing countries. Next, the water is added to the concentrated juice. Finally the juice is sent to the markets.

The UAE and Brunei

The UAE and Brunei are similar in many things. First of all both are beautiful countries and both are safe, modern and organized. The UAE and Brunei are Islamic countries and both have a kindly, helpfull and friendly population. In addition both countries have a strong economy and good concern in industry, education, health and sports. Also both have large natural resources of gas and oil.
Both the UAE and Brunei are different in many ways. For example the location of the UAE is in the Middle East whereas Brunei is in the Far East. Another difference is the language. The UAE speaks Arabic, but Malay is the language of Brunei. Also the weather is totally different. In the UAE it is cold or hot, but in Brunei the weather is moderate all the time.
Both are interesting countries and have a lot of wonderful places. Although both are oil countries, they have a big concern in tourism. There are many places to visit and many things to do. Both have many 5 stars hotels, a lot of malls, museums, beaches and parks. I think the UAE is more active in different sectors than Brunei. Also the UAE is more modern than Brunei, but the last one still has wonderful natural and quiet areas.

UAE & Brazil soccer

Most countries in the world have a football team, and Brazil and the UAE are no exceptions. I will describe the similarities and differences between the two teams, and say which one I would prefer to watch.

Like Brazil, the UAE is a member of FIFA which is an international body for regulating football. This means that both teams have eleven players, and substitutes are allowed. Both teams play to a system that has been agreed with the coaches beforehand. Brazil and the UAE defend when necessary but prefer to attack.

However, there are many differences in the style of play. Brazil plays at a higher level than the UAE and has won the World Cup. The former are fitter and faster than the latter and can adopt their style of play easily. This is because the Brazilian players have experience with teams all over the world while the UAE players usually play for local teams.
Although the Brazil team is more experienced than the UAE team I enjoy watching the last one. Both the Brazil and the UAE are enjoyable and dazzleding. I really enjoy cheerling my national team and I’m very happy to force them to do their best. The UAE team is the most interesting team. I think it is the best because of their skill, their ambition and their talent.

Story

One day when I was in the traditional market in Abu Dhabi I saw a strange accident. I never saw that before and it never happened in front of me at all. I was talking with a sales man when somebody stole money from another customer in that shop.
I got panicky and confused. I didn’t know what to do. Should I tell the customer or should I scream. What would be the right action? I was thinking that it was not my problem and I should leave without taking any action. Later I thought of the other customer: maybe he needed that money for some important thing or maybe he needed it for treatment, drugs or some important need.
I decided to do something, so I followed the thief and told him that I saw his action. The thief was listening to me when I explained that he did something wrong and he had to return that money to its owner.
We had to give back the money in a smart way, so we followed the owner to his car and then we told him that some money had fallen from his pocket. The owner was very happy and he gave the thief some money to thank him for returning it.

How to organise a portfolio

Papers, papers, papers. Students often feel overwhelmed by the number of papers they receive from their teachers and it may seem that throwing them in the boot of their car is the best solution. However, it is actually quite easy to organize your class notes into a neat portfolio. Let me outline the steps.
First, find all your papers. You can look for missing papers on the HD1 website. You can also ask a friend and photocopy his papers. Second, sort your papers into logical divisions e.g reading, writing, listening. Next, put your papers into the different sections. After that, buy a binder and some coloured dividers. Write section headings for the dividers and match them with a table of contents page. Finally, make a label for the side of the binder. Include important information e.g. class code, name etc.
As we have seen it is easy to make a portfolio. You will be proud of your neat, well-organised work.

TRIP

I went to the north emirates last weekend with some friends. The trip was on Saturday. It started from Bani Yas. We had a breakfast in a good Indian restaurant in Shahama city and we bought some things that we needed for the journey such as water, juice and snacks. The journey to Dubai took about half an hour. There was no traffic on the road because it was early at the weekend. Dubai is an interesting city. You can discover it well and smoothly when you choose the right time like early morning or midnight. We had a quick visit around some famous places like Jumera Palm Island, Dubai Tower, The Walk and The Mall of Dubai. Then we moved to Al Dhaid in Sharjah. It is about 70 km.
Al Dhaid is a quiet city famous for farms and traditional products. We bought some meat, rice, vegetables for our lunch and left Al Dhaid for our last destination Wadi Al Helow. It is in Korfakan in Sharjah. The place is located between two big mountains. It’s full of trees and water. We arrived there at 3 pm and started to cook the lunch. It was meat with rice. It called kapsa the most famous meal in the UAE.
After lunch we had a cup of tea. Then we climbed the mountain and took a view around the area.
Time to go back home. It was 10 pm and we had to have our dinner and drive back to Abu Dhabi.

Sending an email

Sending an email is a fairly simple procedure. Anyone can send or check his mailbox even if he doesn’t have enough internet knowledge.
To send an email you have to follow these steps carefully.
First open the computer and login to the internet. Second open yahoo webpage. If you have emails address it's fine. Otherwise you have to get one. Then type your email address and password. Next click on new. After that type the receiver’s email address and the title of the mail. Then type the message. Finally click on send.
It’s very simple. However you must make sure you follow the steps in their right order.
